Avoid Burnout: Tips to Relieve Workplace Stress
I’m sure everyone who works will agree that they have stress at work. There’s basically no job that doesn’t. Of course, some have more stressful jobs than others. Here’s just a few things to help.
Really take the time to stretch yourself for about 30 seconds every two hours, at most. Just stand up, straight and tall, then “roll” your shoulders, forward then back. Like a giant shrug. This really helps loosen the neck & upper back. Roll your neck forward and back, also. Sometimes, we get stuck in the sitting and typing position so long, we don’t even realize how tight those muscles get. Also great for upper back: put your arms behind your back & grab your hands. Lean forward slightly and gently pull your arms up. This really stretches the upper back muscles. You will love how this feels.
Taking a ten to fifteen minute walk during a lunch or other break outside really helps also. It lightens your mood and the fresh air is invigorating. This is usually enough to get you through the rest of the day.
One more thing: If you can, keep a personal photo nearby of your kids, partner, pet or vacation.
